What is self storage and how does it work?

Renting a storage unit is a great solution to clear up some much-needed space at home or to hold much needed business items. All of our storage facilities offer clean, secure storage solutions at affordable prices.

How much does self storage cost?

Our rates vary between unit sizes and type of storage. For more information about our pricing, check out our rates.

Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

Liquids, explosives, flammable liquids, toxic materials, and perishables. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.

What is the best way to pack a unit?

Larger and more infrequently used items should go in the back of the unit. Remember to keep a walkway in the center of your unit to more easily access items. Always keep items labeled and a list of items stored, even a photo on the outside of each box will allow you to "see" what's inside.

What's the difference between climate controlled & non climate controlled?

While both styles of storage units protect your items from the elements, climate-controlled units offer additional heating and air conditioning.

What are some helpful tips for moving into my unit?

We pride ourselves on making things as simple as possible for our customers. For helpful tips on packing and organizing your unit, head on over to our storage tips page.

Why would I need a climate controlled unit?

Climate controlled units are ideal for storing more delicate items such as photographs or sensitive electronics because the temperature never gets below 40 degrees or above 80 degrees.

Can I make a reservation days or a month in advance?

Because our facility in high demand, we usually have low inventory of available units. At this time, we only take bookings and not reservations.

Do you offer any special discounts?

We do not offer any special discount at this time. However, we strive to make sure everyone who has the same unit pays the same rent, to be fair to all the tenants.

How will I be notified of updates regarding the facility?

Please make sure we have your email address, phone, and address on file. We typically use email as the primary way to reach you. Please make sure your contact information is accurate.

Do I have access to my unit at all times?

Yes, our gated facility is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Do I need my own lock?

Yes. For your safety and security, you must have your own lock. This way we do not have access to your personal properties. We recommend disc locks as these are more difficult to break in.

How secure are my stored items?

Choice Storage takes great pride in offering a secure and well-lit facility. In addition to offering a completely fenced-in, gated access only facility, we also have security cameras on site. However, you are strongly encouraged to get tenant protection as we are not responsible for loss or damage to your belongings.

What am I NOT allowed to put in storage?

Non permitted items include: perishable or food goods, toxic or hazardous materials, flammable materials, explosives or other inherently dangerous materials. RVs and boats are permitted with prior management approval.

Can I give my gate code and lock key to family members or friends?

For your safety and security, we recommend you safeguard your gate code and keys. We only allow you and your authorized user to access your unit.

What if I lose my key? Can I cut off my own lock?

It is not legal to bring any tools to unlock on our facility. We will arrange a staff member to help you cut off the lock or arrange an insured locksmith. Note there is a fee for this service.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit cards that have Visa or Master Card logo, Visa, Master Card, and checks. We prefer debit card to keep our cost down and pass on the savings onto you. At this time we are unable to accept American Express cards, Discover cards, and cash.

Can I set up autopay?

Yes. You can change your payment method by logging on to your online account.

When is rent due?

Rent is due on the first of each month. If you are paying via a debit card and signed up for autopay, please make sure your funds are available prior to the first day of the month at 12 am to avoid a non-sufficient funds fee.

When is rent considered late?

Rent is due on the first of the month. A late fee will be charged if rent is not paid by the 5th of the month. Note you will be denied access to the facility and your unit when your account is not current.

What if I forget rent is due?

We will charge you a late fee if you rent is not paid by the 5th of the month. On the 6th of the month, your gate code will not allow you to access the gate and your storage room will be overlocked. However, if you pay off your balance include the fees, we will reactivate your gate code and allow you to access your storage room.

Do you prorate partial month?

If you moved in after the first of the month, your initial month will be prorated. For the months after your initial month, your rent will not be prorated.

How long is my lease?

Your lease is month by month. The tenancy continues unless you notify us of your move out (15 days in advance).

What is the move out process?

Notify 15 days in advance by putting in a move-out request on our website. Once you have moved out of the unit by removing all your personal belongings and lock and leaving the unit in swept clean condition and without damages, send an email to brunswickselfstorage@gmail.com with your unit number. We will then close your account once we have an opportunity to inspect your unit. Should the unit needs additional cleaning or have damages beyond normal wear and tear, we reserve the right to charge reasonable cleaning and repair fees. Note: you must have a $0 balance at move out.


Why should I notify you as soon as I move out?

It helps us close your account prior to month-end and avoid the risk of having your account open and potentially responsible for the rent for the following month. It also helps us to accommodate another tenant who is in need of a storage unit.

All of our units are ground level to offer our tenants the most convenience. Our properties are fenced and provide tenants 24-hour access. 

Our website is open 24/7 to provide you with information on your schedule. This allows you to book your unit and move in anytime you would like.
